     November 12 at Schmitt Music  9:00 a.m.

Hostesses:  Yvonne Knoepael & Pauline Krieger

       Presenter:  Camille Buddecke

Teaching Teeny-Weenies: Working with the 3-6 year old Piano Student

The young child at the piano is a treat to see and work with! They revel in new experiences, and their enthusiasm is contagious. Though a child this age may not be able to read, there are still many and numerous techniques for teaching them to play the piano, and even learn to read music. Working with very young children one-on-one inspires us to be on our toes. Working to keep control of the lesson, the child, and the learning means that the teacher’s attention must be constant and focused. There must be many contingency plans for each lesson, depending on the child’s behavior and ability to focus, which may change from lesson to lesson. Strategies for private piano lessons with young children include: physical movement, ear training exercises, constant finger movement, and lots of fun!!

Hostess Suggestions

Suggestions for Hostesses

Thank you for being willing to volunteer for Keyboard Club in this way!

About one month in advance of the meeting, call the music store to confirm the availability of the room and that the doors will be open at the prescribed time.

This would be a good time to ask about the coffee … if they are willing to make it. You should double-check the plans again one ore two days before the meeting.

Usually we need about two (2) gallons of something other than coffee to drink.

Visiting while drinking means we need finger food, as we stand to eat. It is nice to have something simple, where forks are not needed.

Usually 20 to 30 members attend a meeting. You will need to bring napkins and paper cups. Our host sites have, in the past, been gracious enough to start the coffee for us.

Please contact your site host (listed below) if they are willing to do so again for you.
